  • Lynn Spolek

    DVM

    Dr. Lynn Spolek graduated from Washington State University in 1980, cum laude. She also has a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Washington in 1976 and a B.S. in Animal Science from Washington State University in 1978. Dr. Lynn has been an integral part of VCA EMPAH for over 20 years and has a special interest in geriatric medicine and internal medicine.

  • Alayson Phelps

    DVM

    Dr. Alayson Phelps grew up in semi-rural Illinois and graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Animal Science. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine (Pomona, CA) in 2008. She was a member of Phi Zeta (veterinary medicine honor society) and received the Pfizer Veterinary Specialty Team Award for excellence and proficiency in Internal Medicine. After graduating veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2009 where she not only treated dogs and cats, but also avian and exotic pets. Dr. Alayson joined VCA EMPAH in July 2009 and became Medical Director in July 2010. She has a special interest in preventative medicine, dentistry, rabbit medicine, and still enjoys emergency and critical cases. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Oregon, working on various DIY projects around her home, and sampling all the excellent local beer from the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Alayson also volunteers her time for the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (FCCO) spaying and neutering to help communities reduce the number of unowned and feral cats.

  • Kate Hooper

    DVM

    Dr. Kate Hooper received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University in 2012, graduating with highest honors and receiving the Dr. E.E. Wedman award for most outstanding senior student. Dr. Kate recently completed an intensive internship in emergency medicine and critical care at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, OR. Dr. Kate's interests include emergency and critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, and avian/exotic species. She volunteers with the Oregon Humane Society, Pro-Bone-O Veterinary Clinics, and is an executive board member of the Whole Dog Academy. She is a native of Portland, Oregon and is very excited to be practicing in the Pacific NW, where she shares her home with three adorable cats and the world's best dog.
