  • About Olya Pavlishina, LMFT

    Founder

I am known as a therapist who specializes working with teens and their families. My work with adolescents has been one of my main focuses for over 15 years. I love the challenge of connecting with teens, meeting them where they are and helping them and their parents to cope with the challenges they face. I am just as passionate working individually with women and men. People often come to me to find relief in the problem area of their life, whether it be depression, anxiety, trauma, or just feeling stuck and wanting a change. Helping people overcome traumatic experiences, especially sexual abuse trauma, has been a large focus of my practice in the last two years. It’s an honor to step into client’s most vulnerable life experiences and help them find hope and healing. What qualifies me to be your guide I am passionate about my work as a therapist. Much of my life is spent thinking, learning and praying about how people can connect on a deeper level, heal from their deepest problems, and live out their authentic purpose in life. My persistent curiosity about how to help people live more fulfilling lives has led me to earn a Master’s degree from George Fox University in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a WA state licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LF00002109). I have attended numerous workshops and conferences and have been trained in EMDR therapy that I use frequently with my clients. EMDR has been clinically proven to help people resolve the emotional and physical impacts of disturbing life experiences. Most recently, I have begun the process of becoming a Retracing Sequence Method (RSM) certified practitioner. As described by RSM founder, RSM is a neuro-emotional technique that utilizes a Biblical perspective while applying a methodology of discovering, diffusing, and replacing neurological imbalances in order to resolve emotional stressors that are negatively impacting the soul-spirit-body system. Learn more about RSM here: www.rsmsoulspiritbody.com While all my schooling and training has been of great use, it is my clients who have been my best teachers. It’s my thousands of hours with clients (since 2000) that help me to continue to master my skills as a therapist and be effective with you. Above and beyond my education and years of clinical hours, I have a great deal of life I have experienced. I have been through some very difficult times. I know how it feels to be there, how it feels to work through struggles, and how great it feels to move beyond an issue! How I work In my work, I focus on each client/family with understanding, honesty, empathy, and hope. I am respectful and interactive in my approach. My goal is to create a safe and caring environment free of shame and judgment. A place where you share, heal, and grow while working through your struggles with me. I strongly believe that therapy is a collaborative process where a trained therapist and client work together as a team to move you toward your goals. As I attune to my clients, I pay attention not only to your words but also to your emotional and physical responses as your share your life story with me. I work hard to recognize what negative believes and past experiences stand in the way of you living a more peaceful and meaningful life. The team I work with Over the years, my practice became busier and busier. There were numerous times when my schedule did not permit me to take any more clients. I began to ponder how I can serve more families in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR area. A group practice of highly trained and experienced therapists was born and the experience for many individuals and families served has been wonderful! I am privileged to work with some amazing and gifted therapists next me! We all specialize in and passionate about slightly different issues and it only compliments our work together. It’s hard to find a good therapist. I would not hesitate to say that I am 100% confident to refer my friends and family to the team I work with at Integrity Counseling! A bit about me outside of my work… I enjoy reading, hiking, gardening, traveling, and volunteering at my church. I do not like to pass an opportunity of connecting with my close friends at my favorite coffee shop. Spending time with my husband of 14 years and my three lovely children is an all time favorite.

Do you find yourself struggling to understand why you react to certain situations the way that you do? At times, life or relationships can feel overwhelming and hopeless, but with the right support, tools and insight, freedom will come. I am glad to provide the support that you need while you seek understanding, growth, and healing in your life and your relationships. Who I Work with Although I enjoy working with a wide array of individuals and families, I have devoted much of my time to working with couples and am passionate about helping them find restoration. It can sometimes be difficult to maintain connection and hope in your relationship. When conflict and a lack of connection seem to have crept into your relationship, it can be difficult to know how to move forward in a way that will allow you and your partner to be happy. Nobody should have to struggle and suffer alone. At Integrity Counseling Center, I help couples come back together and restore intimacy in their relationship as they move forward towards a more fulfilling future. I can help you reconnect with your loved one whether you come in individually or as a couple. How I Work I am collaborative in my approach and have been described as being a warm and empathetic listener. I enjoy helping people understand how past experiences impact their current functioning. I have spent time running marriage groups and I enjoy the process of active listening and finding the various patterns that may exist and be impacting or hindering the relationship. Each and every individual is unique and brings with them a unique way of communicating. I remain compassionate and engaged in the healing process while holding each partner accountable along the way. Having walked through some difficult seasons in my own life, I enjoy the challenge of helping couples learn to communicate more effectively and to understand each other on a deeper and more intimate level. My Training I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College while serving in the United States Air Force in Europe. Upon returning stateside in 2009, I spent some time working with youth and families in an outpatient treatment setting before going on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Corban University. My Personal Life I enjoy traveling and seeing new places as well as spending time with my three children and my husband of 12 years. If I get some time to myself, you will most likely find me curled up reading a book or hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Are you ready to start individual or couples counseling? Let me help you restore intimacy with your partner! I encourage you to schedule your counseling appointment online.

Are you feeling lost, hopeless, or stuck in a rut? Sometimes you don’t know what to do or who you can reach out to for help when you’re hurting. Whether you are going through a personal struggle or having problems in your relationships, you don’t have to go it alone. I will walk with you in your pain and help you find healing. Let’s work together to help you move past your pain, build healthy relationships, and lead a joyful life! Who I work with Since 2008, I’ve had the privilege of helping a variety of people positively change their lives for the better. Through my years in the counseling world, I learned that I am most passionate about working with adult individuals and couples and am particularly interested in working with men and women over 50 and Military Veterans. Couples Are you and your partner having trouble connecting? Are you finding it hard to have a conversation that doesn’t lead to a fight? Have affairs, career changes, lack of trust, or life transitions left you unable to communicate with the person who matters to you most? I love working with couples (especially older couples and couples in the military) learn (or re-learn) how to communicate with each other and reignite their bond. My primary method of treatment is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is based on 25 years of research and is considered one of the most effective treatments for healing damage in relationships. No matter what you and your spouse are facing, you can learn how to talk to each other again and work towards rediscovering your loving connection. Premarital or Re-marital Counseling Are you preparing for marriage and want to make sure you and your partner are on the same page? Are you marrying for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time and want to leave the baggage from previous relationships behind? Let’s work together to discover what you will need to make this union a lasting bond. Using well-established communication strategies and assessments such as Myers Briggs, the 5 Love Languages, etc. you will discover how you can best love your spouse and how they can best love you. Men and Women 50+ Some of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in counseling have been with individuals and couples over 50. Whether you are a caregiver, an empty-nester, or a sufferer of chronic pain, I want to help you adjust to new stages and help you live life to the fullest. Military Veterans and Military Family Members As a Military wife and counselor of Military personnel, I understand the adjustment from Military to civilian life. Frequent relocations, complex Military systems, and adjusting from Military to civilian life are all areas that can be major stressors for you and your relationships. With my experience and specialized training in working for the Military, I can help you navigate these challenges while preserving your relationships and peace of mind. How I Work My style of counseling is down-to-earth and personal. I use a variety of techniques and tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. My job is not to give advice or judge you. As your counselor, I will listen and offer insight and support. I will also challenge thoughts and actions that may be holding you back from your goals. Above all, you are the expert on your own life and I will help you use this inner knowledge to bring about hope and healing. My Qualifications While traveling the country as a Military wife, I had the privilege to work with diverse populations from inner city Tacoma, WA to rural Georgia. The majority of my work has been in serving Military personnel and their families. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from St. Martin’s University in Olympia, WA and a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Development from Warner Pacific College in Portland, OR. I am trained in evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. These methods are based on decades of research. My Personal Life I am very excited to be home in the Northwest after traveling around the country for 5 years while my husband served in the Army. My husband, daughter, and I love going on hikes in the mountains, watching movies, helping out at our church and visiting the zoo. Are you ready to start counseling? I encourage you to schedule your counseling appointment online.
